In this directorial debut, we explore the world of a chef on her first day of work – and the worst night of her life. She struggles to find peace under the regime of a tyrannical chef, the weight of her immigrant family, an insatiable specter and the pressure to receive a mystical ‘gift’ from her dying grandmother.

Christianne Cruz is an independent writer, director and producer – born in Toronto and based in LA. She is the mother of two young daughters and producing/life partner to Alex Ott. For her directorial debut, AFTERTASTE, she was inspired by the mythology of The Hungry Ghost, the Mulian opera, and her deep admiration for cuisine. She elevates a toxic industry into the supernatural world, grounded in the realm of Chinese legend and Nuo exorcism rituals. As a Filipinx creative, she’s in the midst of an evolving Hollywood landscape, where creatives and executives are more committed to telling diverse stories – from the heart, for the screen.
